Playing With Layering

I am starting to experiment more with layering.  I do like the look of layering, I just simply forget that you can create awesome combinations simply by using multiple colors.  I get so busy trying to get through my unused polishes, that I forget to experiment and use what I have to create great combos.

I began this combo with two coats of Rainbow Honey's Kawako.  I then added one coat of Sinful Colors All About You, this color is very sheer so I normally would not use it alone and got tired of staring at it on my shelf.  I think it came out gorgeous but wanted an extra little something so I added one coat of Zoya's 18k gold top coat.  I love the look and plan to do a lot more layering in the future.

Zoya Arizona/Revlon Steel Her Heart

I created this look out of a the want to use a couple of polishes that have been in my collection forever and have never been tried.  Inspiration can come from all kinds of places huh?  Nothing special and please excuse the tip wear, these nails were about four days old when I took this picture, because I was not really impressed with the outcome.  Simple to do, just a dotter and a striper and some polish.  I appreciate all that check out my post, I am not a professional and only do nail art for my satisfaction, but the acceptance from the  blogging community has been nothing but positive.  THANKS SO MUCH!!

Hare Polish Oceans of Alloys - Indie Must Have

It is safe to say that Hare Polish is one of my favorite Indie brands.  Her polishes are just beautiful, easy to work with and very unique.  Dry time is usually very good and formula is smooth and creamy.  I was introduced to Hare by watching MissHollyBerries(sp) on YouTube.  She always raves about Nicole, owner of Hare, and how much she loves her polishes.  I recently went on a Hare shopping spree and will be showcasing some of my purchases as soon as I try them.  I am becoming Indie crazy lately and it may be my next whats in my stash post.  If you have never purchased from her, type in Hare polish on Etsy or you can check them out on Llarowe's site.  Either way you are missing out on a sweet treat if you don't add some of these beauties to your collection.

Green With Envy

I apologize up front for the clean up on this manicure, the formula for this polish was runny and really hard to work with.  I used Orly's Jealous Much? and used Finger Paint's Go Van Gogh! on the accent nail.  The Orly polish is a really pretty mint green, yet the formula is really streaky and runny.  It takes multiple coats and show every little flaw on each stroke.  No inspiration for this look, just off the top of my head wanted to wear green since I haven't in a while.  Hope you are having a great week and Happy May so far.

Connect The Hearts/Dots (step-by-step)

Lacquer Lovers

Hope everyone is well and still painting their nails.  I am currently wearing this cute look which utilizes two colors as a base: Color Works Myrtle Beach Purple and Zoya's Ali.

Step 1 - Paint all nails except one one color (purple)
Step 2 - Paint an accent nail on each hand (pink)
Step 3 - Take a nail striper one with coordinating colors to the manicure and make a angular V on each nail.
Step 4 - Paint the inside of each V with the opposite color of the base.
Step 5 - Outline the V with dots in the color of your choice, (white)
Step 6 - Apply small glittered hearts or draw hearts if you like
Step 7 - Apply a top coat

Voila:

Inspired By: You Tube

The inspiration for this manicure came from YouTube.  I was browsing one day and came across a video of  a manicure similar to this one.  I wish I could remember the name of the you tuber, but for the life of me I can't or I would credit.  It is just a simple two tones nail with squiggly lines and random glitter.  It was very easy to do but I received lots of compliments on it.  I used: China Glaze's Peachy Keen and Dress Me Up, Orly's Too Fab for the glitter, and a LA Colors striper for the lines.

Massive Indie Haul :) (picture heavy)

It is safe to say I have become obsessed with some Indie brands.  I don't talk a lot about them on this blog but I really am feeling the indie polishes lately.  Now I had a few to begin with, well more than a few about 15, but recently I have been on a mad search for unique polishes.  I started earlier in March with some polishes I bought from Rainbow Honey.  These polishes always look amazing on the website and in the bottles, but not so much on my nails.  I did love the Yokai Collection that came out last Halloween I believe so I purchased all three of those in full sizes which consist of: Kawako, Kitsune, and Oni which are pictured below:

Next I went to polishsale on live journal, (my new home) and bought some secondhand polishes from random sellers there.  You can get full or slightly used polishes discounted so if you are not familiar with the polishsale community on live journal, please get familiar.  There I purchased mostly Candy Lacquer but had a few others as well.  I then made a stop at llarowe and picked up some Hare polishes, Jade's (my first ones) and one from Pahlish.  They are pictured here:

I got hooked on Candy Lacquer glitters after buying some secondhand, so I bought some at her website when she released them last week, those are shown here:

I also was trolling Etsy this month and found the brand Sparkles By Julie.  She is having a "going out of business sale".  She is based in Hawaii and I am very sorry I found her so late because her polishes are great.  Maybe she will reconsider and sell again some day.  Shipping was super fast from Hawaii and her customer service was great.  Here is a picture of those:
Last few pictures are of my entire haul for the month of Indies and some swatches.  I have the swatches numbered so if you need names I will list them below.
