Just a quick update of some of the Spring/Summer manicures I have done over the last couple of weeks. I am really bad at updating with post other than just pictures because I feel like I'm boring everyone so I will just update with pics for now:

First of I tried the nail strips but these are not Sally Hansen they are Kiss I believe, not that expensive like 4.99 each. However first pic is day one and the second one is the very next day and you can see it is already starting to eat off at the ends. I will keep up my search for nail strips that don't fade away but so far I don't have a good track record with them.

Next just a cute little asymmetrical look I came up with off the top of my head. Nothing fancy just couple of side swipes and some stripes.

Stripes (no explanation needed) I always like to throw in a bit of glitter on everything to spice it up.

Nail Art Collective Haul

Above is a collective haul that I have bought in the last two months. The fimo's and nail art supplies came from www.maytheps-au.com. They are based in China, and I was very pleased with their service and shipping. The prices are great, and though there was not a huge selection, it was just enough for me a first timer for fimos.

The Revlon's were from Big Lots, one dollar a piece. Revlon's are some of my favorite nail polishes and at this price they are a steal.

Cute look I did for this week, hoping it will last all week, I will keep touching it up. I used Sinful Colors Easy Going, LA Colors black and a striper polish with white and purple glitter. My base and top coat were Sally Hansen Hard As Wraps Acrylic Gel. Enjoy!

First off I want to say that I am really sorry that I have not posted lately, life just sort of gets in the way you know. I have been taking a small break from doing my nails weekly because it was just causing too much stress on them. They started cracking, peeling, breaking. Using all that nail lacquer and acetone can really dry them out. I have been using Sally Hanson Hard As Wraps nail gel hardener and it is fantastic. I am going to take pictures of them naked starting this week so you all can see the progress.

In the meantime, I did this manicure a couple of weeks ago, it is one of the all over nail tattoos (stickers) from Art Club I think and I really did like the look, however it did not last a day before they started to peel off. I hope everyone is doing great and still keeping those nails looking sweet.

Just popping in to show off a really pretty gradient look I wore last week. The pictures really do not do this look justice it was really, really, pretty and I got a lot of compliments on this look. I used several different pinks and creams and just layered them and added a few dots at the base. Hope everyone has an awesome week.

Week 2 Naked Nails

Hi Ladies

This is my 2nd week nail care naked nail shot. The first one was really bad as I had on lots of colorful nail polish before and it made my nails look green but the 2nd ones my nails are a bit neater. I plan to invest in some really good care products in the next couple of weeks. Money is kinda funny right now so I am waiting for a special occasion like Christmas. My nails are generally strong, always have been my fingers closest to the thumb on both hands is very weak and fragile and that nail always splits and breaks. Not really sure why.

Nail Challenge

Okay so I have been really neglecting both my nails and this blog lately. I don't mean to really, it's just that life sort of "gets in the way of the fun stuff." Starting today I am taking an honest vow to care for my nails. I am going to go back to my weekly soaks and scrubs. Make sure I use my cuticle creams daily and nail hardener. I am on a 3 month challenge. I have been scouring the web and have found some good soaking recipes. One from Kawaii-nails on YouTube. I am going home tonight and starting.

If anyone wishes to start with me please feel free to do so. I will post a picture of my naked nails and try to update weekly on what I did that week with my nails to pamper them. Its time to get ready for the new year and I can't keep my wait from fluctuating up and down so I will start with my nails this time.

I "borrowed" this look from a you tuber and right now I can't remember the name but I do subscribe to her. She did a mummy look for a Halloween tutorial but she did all 10 fingers. I just decided to do only two on each hand so it wouldn't be so in-your-face. It came out cute and lasted a while.

Two post in one day WOW!!

Today I went in Big Lots guys and wanted to tell you about the bargain I found. They have the nail art stripers from Diamond Cosmetics on sale there. I'm sure these are really, really, cheap on their website, but they were right there in front of me with no shipping. They come three in a pack for 2.50 thats about .83 cents a piece. they are pretty good quality, although the tops are cheap plastic and bend easily. The colors I received are shown. My favorite is the glittery black it swatched really pretty. Head on down to your local Big Lot's and check them out. They have lots of LA colors polishes not too along with the discontinued Revlon's.

Cute little look I got from my inspiration folder. I wish I could give credit but I never remember to save the photo under the web site or person. (note to self: must start doing that) Loved the look though and it lasted all week. My dry splitting nails are bouncing back nicely. I am awful at stamping, I admit and move on, so when I tried this one I wasn't expecting much. However, I really liked it and plan to do many more. It takes lots of practice, but I am up for the challenge. I am learning that when you stamp, you kind of have to tweak it with polish to in order to make it look cute, or get a 3-d type effect. Another quickie for ya from last week, just basically painted my nails yellow. Honestly I was going for a tiger striped look at first but I kinda screwed it up so just made the best out of it. I have really been working hard on my nails lately because they are going through some type of trauma. The are splitting and keep tearing off, don't know what the deal is, very soft a problem I have never had with my nails. I don't know, I think since I big chopped my hair, they are jealous so I am having to give them more tlc. who knows?

I first want to apologize for not posting as often, things get hectic and I have really, really been neglecting my nails lately. For this reason, I have trimmed them all down and will be restarting my care for them. I did a quick fix manicure last week. I keep a drawer full of manicure stickers and stripes, etc just for times when I want a quick little look but don't really feel like going through a lot of effort.

This new nail length will give me a change to do some short nail looks for those with short nails. I am going to start back doing my weekly manicures.

Just popping in this week to show you all my pedicure that I am about to remove. I wanted to do a leopard print on my toes, but wanted a pop of color, so I decided to do a pink leopard look. I thought it looked really hot and even though I smeared my left foot a bit, I got lots of compliments on it. I hope life has been treating you all well. My 18 year old is graduating this month and has already enlisted in the Army so it has been a busy emotional week. Not sure I'm ready for him to go but he is ready so I have to let him leave. I know I have been MIA for a minute but I am back (hopefully). It's just this think called life, ya know it can kinda overwhelm you at times. Plus my job has this new policy and procedure out about nail care. I work in a health care facility however I am in administration and do not work directly with patients. But to be fair they have put into effect no nail polish of color, neutral only, not tips on nails etc. It really sucks but I am going to sneak in a look this week that I will post. I can do that from time to time since I have been there so long. So I am going to start for the Summer at least doing some pedicure looks until the heat dies down at work. Hope you all like, could not get a good pic,and my toenails are cut really funky, because I screwed them up but nevertheless I show ya!

A couple of manicures I did in the last week. The first one I am still wearing however the polished peeled off on one of them on my right hand. I originally got the look out of my inspiration folder but not sure who did it. Most people said it looked like Easter eggs though, and that was not what I was going for. The second I had done trying to do a little bit of an abstract flower look. It was cute but had real trouble on my left hand, hence the reason I did not take pictures of it. A Week of Variety

These first two pictures are of my inspirational look from love4nails last nail art that she uploaded on you tube. She is very, very talented and I have so many ideas in my head based on some of her looks. I loved it on her nails however when I put it on mine, because they are not all the same length, it was a bit too much so I did not wear it out. I tried the orange look at the bottom before the one at the top. I really liked it and got many compliments, but it did start to chip. I got very lazy on the flowers as well and started to do just some freehand art on the rest of the nails. Lastly is the look I am wearing now, it looked really good drawn on paper and in my head, but when I put it on my nails, it just doesn't do anything for me so I will be changing this one soon.

I am super tired right not but wanted to make sure I put this manicure up before I went to bed. I am trying to be more efficient about posting and not let them build up. I was inspired by a cute little pink and black top in my closet for this one and then I just added some butterfly stickers. The stickers, of course did not stay on, but the look is still quite cute without them. Here are a few pre-Valentine's day manicures I did. I was really trying to get more in but I haven't had that much time this week as I do have a full and part-time job. A husband and 3 boys, one which will be 18 tomorrow. I was trying to achieve the look of sweet tarts on the first one but I did not do very well. I have since came across a you tube tutorial that I will try tonight to replicate and it is a very cute sweet tarts look. I will post the name of the guru when I post the look. Earring Haul

This is not a nail look but a haul. I was browsing you tube and found a vlog from one of the natural hair bloggers that I follow. She was talking about this haul she made of thread earrings and how they were really affordable. The site is www.peruvianearrings.com and I am posting pics of what I bought. They are awesome, great quality thread earrings that I have seen run anywhere from $7.00 a pair to $10. This site sells them for less than $2.50 each. Check out the pics.
There are many different kinds but the thread ones are cheaper than wire. I am going to get more because they are awesome so I must have many colors. Shipping was fast ordered them Thursday evening got here Monday morning.

This is sort of a spur of the moment look, I had no idea what I was going to create when I sat down but knew I wanted something pink and sparkly. I tried a couple of things on one nail and it kind of morphed into this confetti idea. This was my second attempt at using striping tape and I am not very good at it. I guess I need to figure out a better way to stick it on because most of them always seem to peel off before the day is over which is frustrating, so if anyone has suggestions, by all means share them. This is mostly just striper paints for the colors and they seemed to last longer for some reason.

Please excuse the messiness of it, those stripers are hard to remove right away if they get into the creases so I just snapped the picture and cleaned up later.

2010 Year for Giving

I will be posting an updated look later today, but for now I just wanted to take a few minutes to remind everyone to reach deep in your soul and purses to help the Haiti victims. My heart is so heavy with pain for them and I could not even begin to imagine the trauma and grief they must be experiencing. They are a strong race and I know they will overcome this but need help from everyone. It is just the right thing to do. I personally don't have much but a small donation and prayers are the least I can do.

It has been a crazy week, I was battling a bit of the flu and did not post regularly (sorry). Here is the look I am currently removing as I have had them on all week. It was a quick style that I did after a failed look so it is not all that neat. The small beads are some that I received from Dollarnailart.com, and I really liked how they looked, however they did not stay on after one day. Good Morning,

I just wanted to take a few moments to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. I hope 2010 is a great one for all of us. I will be adding some new things in the next couple of weeks. I just received a wonderful haul from www.dollarnailart.com where everything is a dollar. I was very impressed with them because the shipping was extremely fast, like 2 days and that in my book is always good. I will post a picture soon of the items I got, I am already planning my next order.

I am also thinking of changing the look of my blog for the new year, so if it looks a little different when you visit the next couple of times then just be patient because I like to try on a couple of looks before I decide what I like.

Hope everyone has a great day and remember what my mother always told me, what you do on the first day of the year, you will probably be doing all year, so no worrying, complaining, or stressing, just enjoy your life today.

I hope everyone is having a good week so far. I'm just popping in on this cold night to show you all my nail look that I am currently about to remove. I had seen so many you tube tutorials, looks, inspirations, with snowmen and winter that I wanted to try my own. I kind of took a little from several and came up with this fun look. It was fairly easy to do, just a series of dots and layering, however it has already started to chip after two days so will be removed soon. I hope everyone enjoys their week. Oh and I broke my little right thumb nail on Saturday. It wasn't however as tragic an event as it has been in the past. I guess I'm getting used to them breaking and regrowing.

I hope that everyone has had a very Happy Thanksgiving, late posting this week I am about to take this off but it lasted pretty well. This was my second attempt at doing a marble look. I tried water marbling and just can not do it right to save my life, so I just did the marbling with the small dotter. I got this inspiration from a you tube video, however can't remember which one right now. It's back to work for me tomorrow. My second picture is of my small haul that I finally found. The WetNWild Craze polishes. I have been looking for them forever and found them at Walgreen's earlier in the week. They are buy one get one free right now so if you have a Walgreen's near by hurry and check it out. I got all I could find. I love the colors but they are waaaay smaller than I expected, they are tiny. But I have used the metallic looking one and got compliments on the color the first day I wore it. That's all the nail reporting I have for now. Ta ta!!

This is the manicure I am starting the week off with. I just did a slanted french manicure in yellow and went over it with black stripes. I then traced the line with a gold glitter and added some tiny beads. The beads are not that straight and I don't really like them very much now that I am looking at them but I'm sure by the end of the week they will have fallen off. I hope that your week is going well, I wanted to share the look I am sporting right now. I did it on Saturday and today is Tuesday, its holding up okay. I've had a pretty stressful two days at work but my nails still look good. My exercise goals have been excellent but still not eating the best, can't avoid sweets. I'm really happy with how my nails are growing back. I have mixed a product called Ovation Cell Therapy in with my cuticle cream or lotion that I apply every night. You can google them online and learn all about it. I originally bought it when I was growing my hair out but it worked so good for my nails, just massaging it in my hair that I started mixing it with my lotions. It is a growth aid for women with hair loss and thinning. One bottle is very expensive but it works well.

This is the look I am starting my week off with, did it today and I think it came out really cute. It is super simple, just basic black, and two stripers needed. Silver metallic and a bright color. I started out putting white under the silver but did not like it so much and changed it on the pic's below, they look much better to me. I hope everyone has a good Monday tomorrow.

I hope that everyone has had a good weekend, mine has been pretty slow but did do a couple of nail designs this week. This one I wasn't too proud of but will show it off anyway. The blue things are supposed to be flowers but they did not turn out quite like I wanted them to. This look is another inspired by look from luv4nails on YouTube. She has awesome designs and I plan on trying a couple of them. The color is Zoya and I can't remember which one but if someone really wants to know contact me and I will dig in my stack and find it. Pretty easy on the rating scale just solid color, lines then dots for flowers. Don't know why it is not as cute as I wanted it to be, but oh well.

Hope you all had a great Monday. This is what I am currently wearing on my nails. It was a quick make up as you go along manicure, had no idea what I was going to do. Fairly easy, yet time consuming waiting for colors to dry. Also I have placed below a slide show of some of the practice nails that I have been doing. Keeps me from having to keep staring over.
Workout goals are good, eating healthy, not so good. I am a work in progress.

Hey here is my black stars look that I created. I wanted something dark and different but did not want too dark because of working in an office environment. I originally was going to do the weave on all fingers but it was a bit overwhelming looking so I toned it down. The stars are stickers and they stayed on really well. I got them at Big Lots for like .79 cents on clearance. The black polish is just Wet N Wild fantasy makers and regular silver nail art polish striper.

Did a mile and a half on the treadmill today, plus started with 10 minute trainer last night. Tried to get my husband to do it with me, he is so skinny yet uncoordinated. Could not even finish nor did he try but nevertheless I did and my thighs burn like you would not believe today. Pray for me. I have like 20 pound to reach a personal goal. Lord have mercy.

After the blue wore off some on my Hawaiian design I was listening to Rhianna's disturbia and this look just sort of formed. It was real cute, just took it off yesterday because it got a huge chip in it.

On another note I have been on a real health food kick lately. I have been walking 1.5 miles per day plus doing Pilates every evening. It is really transforming my body but I have a long way to go. I am by no means skinny, nor do I want to be, just healthy and toned, sort of like Serena ya know! Just dropping this note because I will be putting various post about my exercising or lack there of on here from time to time so you guys can keep me motivated.

I just wanted you all to know that I have started to use a new product called Sally Hansen Complete Care 4-in-1 Treatment. It claims to be used as a base coat, to wear alone to strengthen and as a top coat for shine. It was 13.99 but I got it at Big Lots for 4.00 marked down and it seems to be working its wonders on my poor nails already.

I also wanted to let y'all know that I am going to start keeping updates about my fitness and goals so that you all can help me stay motivated, because it is hard to do.

I can't really remember what colors I used exactly for this but this was the first look I did to try out the nail pens. It is okay, but I did not wait for it to dry completely and it smeared a bit when applying a shimmering top coat. Base coat under diamonds is Wet N' Wild ice blue pearl. It is really pretty in light goes on like clear but when you turn a certain way it is a pearly blue.

I have gone back to work off sick leave so my post will be slowing down and my looks will be a bit more reserved I'm sorry to say, but I will still post. I wanted to tell you guys about the eBay 2 way nail pens I got.

I don't want to put anyone on blast and mess up a rep, so if you are looking to order some I can tell you the name of the seller I got these from so you can not use them, because they were packaged very badly. I got 60 of them and I think they were like $30.00 with free shipping from China. Now you know if you ship a chemical substance like nail polish pens from China, they should be packed well. These were not, they were just poured in the box, no bubble wrap, no tape or anything. I could smell them when I got them out of the mailbox. I thought one of them had exploded, however luckily it had not. A few more days in the hot post office though and it would have. A few of them had just leaked from the top, but all 60 were in tact, but some of them were only half full due to the leakage.

I really, really like these for precision drawing on the nails, however some of the paint brushes are not as neat and tidy as the LA Colors brushes and are hard to paint even clean strokes. Great for drawing with the pen and dotting though.

Last week and went to Wal-Mart and bought what I thought were my first Pure Ice Nail polishes for my collection. However, when I got home I discovered that I had some Pure Ice's from way, way, back in my collection and just overlooked some of them. I think its time I did some out with the old, in with the new clean up. Anywho, here is the haul:

I really like Really Rio I have used it several times and Jaguar. I also purchased this Clear Liquid Bandage 5in 1 total by nailaid. It claims to repair broken, split, nails without any type of wrap on top. I haven't broken a nail since to try it, but isn't it ironic that I saw this one day after cutting my long thumbnail off which was split on the side. Tough Breaks

Well I finally broke my left thumb nail, my right hand had already broken weeks ago and is growing back nicely. Anyone who is into natural nails knows that these are inevitable. You can do all the preventive maintenance in the world and still breaks will happen when your nails get long. However, it is painful, not just physically, but mentally. Nothing that is worth having comes without work and it is work maintaining long, healthy nails, it is a lifestyle change and means doing everything different with your nails in mind when using your hands. It will grow back, this too shall pass, but it is so devastating when it happens. It will even mean changing some of my manicure ideas for the next couple of weeks until it grows back to a normal length. The break was so low that part of my skin is exposed. I tried the silk bandage and glue for a week or two but it just had to be constantly reapplied and made the nail look bad.

Sometimes when I sit down to do a nail design I know exactly what I want it to look like, and sometimes I just go with the flow. Well when i did these nails, I knew that I wanted dragonflies because I had seen some cute nail designs with them, but I didn't exactly know my color scheme or what it would be like. I just sort of made it up as I went along.
It came out okay, I made a few mistakes on my right hand, of course (I'm right handed)but I wore it for about 4 days before It chipped a little and I grew tired of it, the pearl color is very old OPI, the name has rubbed off it is so old but still works well.

This look started out as just strawberries, but I got tired, they took too much of a steady hand so I shortened it and did some cherries on some fingers and some rhinestones on others.

I went to see Fantasia and Dave Hollister in concert this weekend with my husband and had done some bright read nails with fiery tips but forgot to take pictures. So I cropped a picture I took before we went out. I only owned one red nail polish, I know that is sad, I have to buy some, I don't know why they are so scarce in my collection. I put strips of orange, red and yellow to make the fire. I'm sorry its not a good picture, but I wanted y'all to get the general idea.

This is the look I am currently wearing, I really like this one and will probably keep it on a couple of days provided it does not chip. I used so many colors mostly paint pens too many to tell but the base is Revlon Color Illusion in Pink Crystal. I have had it for a while, but never used it so tried it today and went freehand from there. Here in the Memphis Zoo we have a butterfly garden where you walk through and all the butterflies fly over you and around, its really cool. This is what this look is inspired by Enjoy!! Sticker Drama (no thank you)

I had purchased some stickers from Ebay and various other places and have tried several times over the last week to create some cute looks with them.

It did look good though for like a day, hehe

So this was the first look and I liked it but those stickers are cumbersome. I could not do my hair, put on clothes the stickers kept snagging on everything. I put two top coats and you could still feel them when rubbing across the nail.

Second try was mostly striper but I added some little money stickers and was trying to do my "plenty money" look, but those darn dollar signs got hung on everything and I ended up pulling them off before I got where I was going.
Stickers are a pain for me, I would much rather do the free hand art and enjoy the benefits even though it takes longer to do.

Random Post, About Me (doll collecting)

This post is pretty random and thought I would take a little break from nail polish to post some of my other hobbies and likes. Along with doing my nails I am a doll collector. I collect mainly Silkstone barbies but have some others in my collection that are not barbies. Silkstones are kind of a cross between porcelain and vinyl but mainly are for collecting and definitely not for playing with.

The material is extremely heavy and can crack. I have a few platinum label dolls (less than 1000 produced) but mainly just regular silkies. I take all my dolls out of the box and are displayed in cabinets so their value has went down, and due to the recession I have only purchased one doll in like the last year but they are a major conversation piece when people come to my house. I have posted some pictures for all to enjoy. Email me if you have any questions about doll collecting, I love talking about dolls and nails. Oh and this is my baby Domino!!

This is look that I got inspired from a Japanese nail art magazine. It looked really polished until I tried to trace the hearts. I did not have a glitter pen so I used like the striping polish which can be very hard to control when getting low.
